Privacy Policy

This notice explains what Tutorial Cool collects, why, and what you can do about it. Tutorial Cool is operated by Chop Cost Consulting LLC, a Texas limited liability company.

What we collect

When you register: your name, email address, date of birth, and password. Your date of birth is used to confirm you are 18 or older; we store the date, not a copy of any document.

When you use the platform: courses you enrol in, lessons you complete, quiz results, notes you write, and your progress.

In live classes: the work you produce on the platform. This includes writing on your page, typed answers, notes, group messages, and anything you hand in. It also includes your status during class, such as whether you have raised a hand.

If you turn on your camera or microphone: live audio and video, carried by our video provider. We do not record classes unless we tell you beforehand and you agree.

When you pay: Stripe processes your payment. We receive a record of the transaction. We never see or store your card number.

Automatically: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps. We use this to keep the service running and secure.

Why we collect it

• To provide the courses and classes you signed up for
• To let your instructor teach you, including seeing your work during a class
• To take payment and pay instructors
• To keep the platform secure and investigate abuse
• To meet our legal obligations
• To improve the service

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your coursework to train artificial intelligence models.

Who can see your work

Your instructor can see the work you produce in their class. This is how teaching works here.

Administrators of Tutorial Cool can access classes for safety, quality, and support. Our Safeguarding and Monitoring notice explains this in detail, including when observation is not visible to participants. Please read it.

Other students in your group can see your group's shared board and group messages. They cannot see your private page or your notes.

Who else receives data

We use these providers, each handling only what they need:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting and storage, United States
• Stripe — payments
• LiveKit — live audio and video
• Mailgun — email delivery
• OpenAI — powers the AI tutor and teaching assistant
• Cloudinary — images and media

We may disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person.

Where your data is held

On servers in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your information is transferred there and handled under United States law.

How long we keep it

• Account and coursework: while your account is open, then up to 12 months
• Payment records: seven years, as tax law requires
• Consent records: for as long as we may need to show what you agreed to
• Live class work: 12 months after the class
• Live audio and video: not stored, unless a class is recorded with notice
• Security logs: 12 months

Your rights

You may ask us to:

• give you a copy of your data
• correct anything wrong
• delete your account and data, subject to records we must keep
• stop sending you marketing email
• explain how a decision about you was made

Write to privacy@tutorialcool.com. We reply within 30 days.

If you are in California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, or Connecticut, you have specific rights under state law, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.

If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR, including the right to object, the right to portability, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

If you are in Canada, you have rights under PIPEDA and may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. We do not use advertising cookies.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed. Access to production systems is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that a breach will never happen. If one affects you, we will tell you.

Children

Tutorial Cool is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, write to privacy@tutorialcool.com and we will delete it.

Changes

We keep every version of this notice, numbered and dated. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will ask you to accept the new version before continuing.
